Special Guide for Parents, How to find the best  summer camp for your child with horses.
Academy Of Riding Starlight Stables , located in Liberty, Missouri  horsing around for over 25 years. GREAT HORSES and GREAT FUN!

In my opinion, this should help you make a educated selection when looking for the best kids summer camps with horses.

1   Find out how many years the summer camps has operated and in the same location.  ( The Longer the camp the better)

2   Make sure you check into management and ownership make sure it is the same as camps history.

3   Are the horses owned by the summer camp and the same  horses used year after year ( Great Camp Horses for Kids are a treasure)

4   Even Better are the horses  and summer camps part of a riding school that has been around for at least 10 years and has a solid reputation.

5   Doses the Horse Summer Camp offer levels of riding, so your child will be on an opropriately trained horse and given correct instruction.
Child size saddles  ( they are a lot like shoes one size doses not fit all). a Must and Horse Safety  enforced  .

6   How many children total in your child's summer camp and how many in the riding portion of the camp. There should be a 1 instructor or consoler
per child rider if beginner classes ,  2 children rider  to1 instructor or consoler in beginner- intermediate,   3 children riders to 1 instructor or conssuler in
intermediate lessons, 4 child riders to 1 consular  or instructor intermediate-advanced, 5 children riders to 1 riding instructor and or counselor for advanced.
also ask about the  assist people or children helpers that will be assisting the riding instructor  or counselor count , with adult supervision.

6B  Ask how long these individuals have been working in the summer camp program)( for your child's SAFETY, Teenagers should not teach, asset or
manage  without an ADULT PRESENT . ( as with the  camp horses the longer they have been there and riding the better)
7    What other activities are offered and will the materials be supplied. Will there be snacks and refreshments ( what kind, doses your child have allergies)?

8     How long will the child be ridding and what discipline ( Western, the easiest to learn) ( English, no horn and will they be jumping) (Bareback, no saddle)
Always good if camp teaches safety and gives hand outs about  horses and teaches horse safety from the ground up.

9     Can the campers bring their own horses to camp and what are the extra fees, and where will they be located.

10  Please Check out at least 2 references,  The right  Summer camp can make your child's summer one great one to remember!
11  The Great Helmet Debate (Helmets are a good Idea make sure it fits properly) ( If the horses and staff are not trained properly it won't be the fix all).
there is not a law requiring helmets for riders, it is  at the riders or riders parents discretion.  Every Ridding Camp and Stables should have rules ask for
a copy, and see if you  agree.( most camps should be able to help you find a store to get a Helmut)

12  Make sure you are Registered in Advance  for your Summer Horse Camp the Good ones fill up early!
